Experts in English

Who can benefit?

Even the most competent writers can benefit from having their work checked by a professional and impartial expert. Our proofreading service is most suitable for books that have already been edited or academic, corporate and personal documents which require very few alterations and only minor amendments.

What our customers say

‘Thanks a lot for your assistance and guidance. I am really happy to have worked with you and I hope that we can work together again in the future.’

Did you know?

The apostrophe can be used to indicate the possessive (e.g. Lucy’s bicycle) but it is never used with possessive pronouns: his, hers, its, ours, yours, theirs. It is, however, used with 'one': One must do one's best.

The apostrophe can also be used to indicate missing letters in words or phrases (e.g. I’d like a coffee).

Note: it’s always means it has or it is. There is no such word as its’.

Proofreading

Today’s words can pave the way to achieving tomorrow’s ambitions. Don’t let misspellings, sloppy grammar, problems with punctuation and poorly chosen vocabulary negatively affect your chances of success. Instead, allow us to work with you to craft words that will maximise your potential and help generate fortunes.

How we work...

  1. Our proofreaders will compare proofs with edited copies line by line, or work solely based on the proof or your original manuscript.
  2. We'll make sure the spelling, punctuation and grammar of your work is impeccable.
  3. We’ll confirm that page numbers are consecutive; that running headings are correct; and that typography, design and text is consistent - in accordance with a style guide if one is supplied or by compiling our own specifically for your project.
  4. We'll cross-check chapter titles with the table of contents; verify that the appendices, index, etc. correspond to the text; check or insert numbers in cross-references; and eliminate awkward or confusing word, column and page breaks.
  5. We'll also ensure that illustrations and their captions and labels correspond with each other and with the text, and we’ll make certain that each page is aesthetically pleasing and logically arranged.

Expert proofreaders like us will not be tempted to edit work submitted for proofreading. We know that acceptable changes when proofreading are only corrections to typographical errors and misspellings, minor adjustments to grammar and dealing with inconsistencies - not restructuring or rewriting.

Why choose us?

No matter what you’re writing, whether it’s an essay, covering letter, website, book, marketing brochure or annual review, our well-accomplished proofreaders have the skill and expertise to refine your documents for the most powerful results.
